Assistant Director
Cambridge Community Television
Maritza Grooms was born in Lowell, and grew up between there and Boston, graduating from BU in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in Linguistics. She has 10 years of nonprofit experience, currently working full time as the Assistant Director at Cambridge Community Television providing a platform and tools to empower people to use their voices, create media, and build community. She studies history informally and brings that information to the community in a fun, accessible way as cohost of History in Lowell with UMASS Lowell Professor Robert Forrant. She spends much of her free time as a Community Educator with a focus on social justice and equity, race relations in the US, and Lowell’s history. Maritza is the Chair of the Cambridge Nonprofit Coalition’s Membership & Governance Subcommittee. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Cultural Organization of Lowell, Lowell Telemedia Center, and the Friends of the Pollard Memorial Library.
