Kate Layzar

Kate Layzer is the Minister of Street Outreach at First Church in Cambridge, and the founder and director of the Friday Café, a weekly community gathering where neighbors from all walks of life have an opportunity to share a meal and get to know each other. Having trained and served as a parish minister, Kate discovered her passion for ministry with people on the margins during the Occupy Movement of 2011. After an apprenticeship with the MANNA community in Boston, she launched The Friday Café at her home church in 2014. A thriving volunteer program serving about 200 guests a week.
