These subcommittees, comprised of volunteers from the nonprofit community in Cambridge, are an integral part of CNC's work.
Fundraising and Finance
Provide financial oversight for the CNC. Lead effort to create multi-year fundraising plan. Assist in identifying new institutional and individual donors and maintaining relationship with current donors. Participate in meetings with potential donors and in review of grant proposals and reports. Develop process for creating and approving annual budget, expenses and monitor regular financial reports. Present quarterly financial reports to steering committee.
Governance and Membership
Research options for coalition structure, including formal legal status (501c3, fiscal sponsorship etc) and develop process for decision making. Lead the coalition on selecting governance structure, subcommittee structure and process for electing permanent leadership group (ex. Executive Committee). Address any issues regarding steering committee members who are not meeting the terms of the MOA, provide clarity on CNC operating practices in writing and decision making policies as needed. Finalize general membership benefits, responsibilities and fee structure. Facilitate the recruitment of general member organizations. Develop plan for number and type of member engagement activities annually and facilitate implementation
Government Relations/ Public Policy
Develop strategy for managing relationships with elected and appointed officials of the City of Cambridge and relevant state lawmakers, as well as track emerging issues and opportunities to provide input on public processes. Develop policy agenda for the coalition, a process for engaging membership as appropriate, and track progress on agenda items.
Summit (Ad hoc)
Lead planning for annual large convening. This may include: identifying outside facilitator and/or keynote speakers, discussion topics and format, as well preferences for meeting, time and location and target audiences. Develop metrics and survey tool to evaluate success of events.
Provide support and supervision for CNC Managing Director, including providing feedback on first drafts of proposals/materials and steering committee meeting agendas. Interface with Cambridge Community Foundation and Cambridge Agassiz Harvard Fund on employment issues. Manage annual review process.
